I have heard that Portuguese is "Spanish spoken by a drunk Frenchman". Is that true/fair?

Well, Spanish and Portuguese have a very high level of common vocabulary, and Portuguese - like French - does seem to have more nasal sounds than Spanish (like "não" for "non"), so maybe you have a point there Wink...
